How do you put PC to TV without new video card?

I want to have an extended screen onto my tv so that I could still stay on the computer while I'm watching something (a movie/video on the tv so that the screen extends to the left) I also don't want to have to buy a new video card since this computer is fairly new. It's a dell XPS 420.

Can a PC to TV tuner do that or does it just duplicate/cone the screen on my monitor?|||No, a PC TV tuner/capture card is for receiving TV signals for display on your computer. It is not for connecting your computer to a television set.

If you want to connect to an old analog low-definition boob-tube TV, you need a video card with S-video or Composite output. By nature the low-definition analog signal is going to look like crap.

If you want to connect to an HDTV, it is usually done through either DVI/HDMI (which are digital) or VGA (which is analog). And to run in extended desktop mode, your graphics card needs to have two video outputs.|||I don't know the capabilities of your current video setup, but a TV will usually just display the same thing as your monitor and you can use one or the other, but not both. You need a dual monitor setup to do what you want which require 2 output ports from the video card, or, 2 video cards.|||You can extend your desktop and have separate windows open on your PC and TV.
